About the Project The Guild has worked with Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust across a wide range of video, photography and design projects — documenting meaningful community events, showcasing innovation in cemetery operations, and creating content that honours the sensitive and important work SMCT does across its sites. From National Miscarriage Awareness Day events to groundbreaking workplace safety innovations and environmental initiatives, The Guild has helped SMCT tell complex, emotionally resonant stories with care and craft.

Gantry System & Grave Safe Rail In collaboration with Geelong Cemeteries Trust, the gantry is a cemetery safety solution preventing anyone from accidentally falling into an open grave, and eliminating the manual handling risks associated with lowering coffins and caskets from height. The project was recognised by WorkSafe. The Guild produced video content to communicate its impact to funeral directors, industry stakeholders and families — emphasising how it makes burials safer, quieter and more dignified. Dating back 150 years of manual handling risk, the gantry removes all of that and makes the experience safer for everyone involved.

Community Milestones Documenting significant moments across SMCT's sites, from the opening of spaces designed for grief and reflection, to the completion of community infrastructure that serves families for generations.
